The MICHELIN Guide Restaurant Ceremony will take place at the Manila Marriott Hotel at Newport World Resorts, bringing together restaurateurs, industry leaders, official partners and media for an invitation-only event.
100th anniversary
The 2027 selection builds on Michelin’s first year covering the Philippines and comes as the global gastronomy community marks the 100th anniversary of the MICHELIN Star. Michelin introduced its Star rating system in 1926 as a way to recognize restaurants delivering outstanding dining experiences.
The Guide said the latest edition will continue highlighting the Philippines’ culinary heritage, hospitality and emerging generation of talent. The ceremony will also feature food and beverages prepared by MICHELIN Guide award-winning international and local chefs.
Five universal criteria
Restaurants included in the Guide are independently evaluated by anonymous MICHELIN Guide Inspectors using five universal criteria: quality of ingredients, mastery of cooking techniques, harmony of flavors, personality of the cuisine and consistency over time and across the menu.
The Guide awards One, Two or Three MICHELIN Stars to restaurants recognized for culinary excellence. Bib Gourmand recognizes establishments offering good-quality, good-value cooking, while MICHELIN Selected covers restaurants that meet the Guide’s standards and are considered worthy of a visit.
Geographic scope
The ceremony underscores Michelin’s continued expansion of its restaurant guide in the Philippines, with Manila and surrounding areas and Cebu forming the geographic scope of the 2027 edition.
Michelin said the event will be livestreamed through the MICHELIN Guide Asia YouTube channel, giving diners and the broader public access to the announcement as the new restaurant selection is revealed. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
