Meralco said the competitive selection process (CSP) followed the Department of Energy’s issuance of a Certificate of Conformity on the terms of reference for the planned power supply agreements (PSAs).
Power generation companies have until Oct. 15, 2026, to submit expressions of interest. A pre-bid conference is scheduled for Nov. 6, while bids are due on Dec. 9.
Long-term supply
The winning supplier or suppliers will enter into 15-year PSAs with Meralco, subject to approval by the Energy Regulatory Commission.
The agreements will cover an initial 600 MW of baseload supply starting Feb. 26, 2031, followed by another 300 MW beginning Feb. 26, 2032.
Meralco said the procurement is intended to secure sufficient and reliable electricity supply as demand among its customers grows. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
