The company is implementing a combination of network management, supply augmentation, and infrastructure improvements to sustain stable service across its concession area amid rising demand.
System upgrades
Maynilad said in a statement it is maximizing output from its existing treatment facilities, including modular plants and New Water facilities. It is also optimizing operations in its south system plants to boost production and lessen dependence on Angat Dam.
These efforts are aimed at reinforcing water availability, particularly during peak consumption periods.
Infra projects
Key infrastructure developments are also underway to improve system resilience. Among these are a 200-million-liter raw water reservoir at the La Mesa Compound and a 40-million-liter treated water reservoir in Valenzuela.
These facilities will provide additional storage capacity, helping stabilize supply and ensure more consistent service delivery.
Groundwater boost
To further support supply, Maynilad is activating and rehabilitating deep wells in select areas. This will provide an additional source of water, particularly during periods of high demand or limited surface water supply.
Efficiency drive
The company is also expanding its non-revenue water reduction program, focusing on leak detection, pressure management, and network optimization.
By reducing water losses, Maynilad can increase the volume delivered to customers without requiring additional raw water sources.
Ongoing prep
Maynilad noted that dry season preparation is part of its regular operational planning, with measures refined each year to respond to changing conditions.
“Our priority is to ensure that our customers continue to receive reliable water service, especially during periods of high demand,” the company said.
Shared role
The utility also encouraged customers to practice responsible water use, emphasizing that conservation plays a vital role in maintaining supply stability during the dry months. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
