The management office overseeing the MRT-7 project has denied that its construction activities caused the flooding along Commonwealth Avenue, attributing the incident instead to clogged drainage lines filled with plastic waste and debris.
In a statement on Jan. 7, 2025, the conglomerate said this initiative, conducted under its “Better Rivers PH” program, removed nearly 700,000 tons of silt and waste from the river, spanning 26.3 kilometers.
The preemptive release of water from Wawa Dam in Rizal at the height of Super Typhoon Carina last week helped mitigate flooding in the low-lying areas of the province and easter Metro Manila, the company that manages the joint venture project said over the weekend.
