Globe telecom's network reliability drives Q1 revenue growth, says exec

Globe head of consumer mobile business Darius Delgado

A senior executive at industry giant Globe Telecom said reliable network services contributed to healthy revenue growth during the first quarter of the year, helping overcome challenging economic conditions that hurt consumer spending.

In a statement over the weekend, Globe said mobile revenues during the period rose 8 percent to P29.1 billion, on robust data usage. This also raised the mobile segment’s contributions to 71 percent of service revenues versus 68 percent a year ago.

“We see our efforts being affirmed by our customers as our Net Promoter Scores continue to improve over and above Asia-Pacific benchmarks, hence our ability to keep our paying base stable, with ARPUs growing at a healthy pace, even as economic constraints persist,” Darius Delgado, head of Globe’s consumer mobile business, said in a statement.

“This is an equation that tells me we are delivering an experience worthy of our customers’ spend and loyalty,” he said.

Mobile data significantly drove mobile revenues, increasing its contribution by 10 percent to P23.8 billion, fueled by online shopping, streaming media, and social media.
