GI-certified Guimaras mangoes take center stage at IFEX 2025

Guimaras mangoes—the Philippines’ only Geographical Indication (GI)-certified agricultural product—are taking the spotlight at the 2025 edition of the International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines, showcasing the island’s pride to both local and global buyers.

Recognizing the value of this premium fruit, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), has placed Guimaras mangoes and the Manggahan Festival front and center at this year’s event.

Under the leadership of CITEM executive director Leah Ocampo, the Guimaras Mango Growers and Producers Cooperative has been given prime exhibit space at the IFEX Buyers’ Lounge, allowing potential partners to sample the famed mangoes at their freshest.

Ensuring quality from farm to table, FAST Logistics is overseeing the transport, handling, and sale of two tons of fresh mangoes throughout the event. The company has also produced an engaging audio-visual presentation capturing the sights and sounds of the Manggahan Festival, offering visitors a deeper look into Guimaras’ culture and community.

Adding flair to the showcase, the Provincial Government of Guimaras brings the popular “FASTest Mango Slicing Contest” to the exhibit floor. Cultural performances sponsored by Koko Mojo Mango Farm further enrich the immersive experience.

Backed by CITEM, FAST Logistics, and the Guimaras Provincial Government, this initiative strengthens the island’s branding as a global source of world-class mangoes and reinforces the impact of GI certification in elevating Philippine agriculture on the international stage.

“This collaboration shows what we can achieve when government, industry, and communities work hand in hand. With strong logistics support from FAST and the passion of our local producers, we are proudly sharing not just a fruit, but a story of Filipino excellence, heritage, and resilience,” Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina A. Roque said. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
