Through its Supply Chain and Logistics Group (SCLG) and Regional Operations Group (ROG), the DTI is promoting inclusive growth, rural development, and modernized agriculture by aligning key national and local stakeholders behind a shared vision.
This initiative brings together the Provincial Government of Guimaras, the Guimaras Mango Growers and Producers Cooperative, and various private sector players. Their collective goal: enhance the competitiveness of the Guimaras mango industry, streamline logistics, and boost market accessibility for local farmers.
Beyond trading
Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque emphasized the fruit’s prestige and potential: “The Guimaras mango’s recognition as the first and only Philippine agricultural product with Geographic Indication (GI) status speaks volumes about its quality, heritage, and market potential.”
"Bringing Guimaras mangoes from farm to table is more than trade—it’s about honoring tradition, empowering communities, and creating shared prosperity,” Roque added.
To bring this vision to life, DTI is working with local enterprises like Guimaras Wonders Farm and logistics providers such as Airspeed to explore premium branding and export opportunities.
Export promotion
The mangoes will also be spotlighted internationally at IFEX Philippines 2025, hosted by DTI’s export promotions arm, the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM). This global food trade fair will feature the island’s finest produce, with support from FAST Logistics and participation from farms like Koko Mojo Mango Farm.
Logistics, e-commerce
Recognizing the rise of e-commerce, DTI has also partnered with Shopee and LBC Express to bring Guimaras mangoes to the digital market.
Local sellers are being onboarded onto Shopee’s platform, enabling consumers nationwide to access the fruit conveniently. LBC ensures the reliable movement of goods across the country.
DTI and PHLPost alliance
Also, the DTI and Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) are teaming up to make Guimaras mangoes more accessible to Metro Manila residents.
This alliance establishes a direct ordering system, where consumers can scan QR codes on promotional materials to order fresh mangoes directly from the producers. PHLPost will then deliver the mangoes through its last-mile logistics network, ensuring freshness upon arrival.
By integrating logistics, digital platforms, and global promotion, the DTI's comprehensive approach reflects a forward-looking strategy that empowers micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), uplifts rural communities, and builds a resilient agricultural sector. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
