MSMEs make up 99.5 percent of all registered businesses and generate six in every 10 jobs, yet many struggle to hire and retain qualified workers.
Why it matters
In a 2024 survey by the Boston Consulting Group and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), 46 percent of MSMEs reported experiencing a talent crisis, citing high workforce demand but a shortage of quality candidates.
At the same time, 72 percent said they want to expand their workforce, and 82 percent aim to upskill existing employees, underscoring the urgent need for solutions that address hiring challenges.
Tools and learning for resilient businesses
Through a series of workshops and learning sessions, participants received practical insights on marketing, logistics, digital platforms, and finance—core areas essential to strengthening MSME operations.
“Every thriving economy is built on the shoulders of resilient and growing MSMEs,” Dannah Majarocon, Jobstreet by SEEK managing director–Philippines, said in a press statement.
“By empowering them through events like the MSME Summit, we’re helping businesses grow, connecting them with the right talent, and fueling job creation.”
Safer, easier hiring for MSMEs
With hiring scams proliferating on social media, Jobstreet by SEEK urged business owners to turn to legitimate job platforms to protect their reputation and ensure access to quality candidates.
The company highlighted its “SMEasy sa Jobstreet” initiative, offering free and user-friendly job posting that gives MSMEs access to Jobstreet’s nearly 14-million-strong nationwide talent pool. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
