BDO Unibank Inc. has signed a business alliance agreement with Japan’s Ashikaga Bank Ltd. (ABL) to support Japanese firms looking to establish or expand their presence in the Philippines.

This partnership, formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MOU), underscores both institutions’ commitment to fostering stronger business ties between Japan and the Philippines.

Ashikaga Bank, a leading regional bank based in Tochigi Prefecture, is the 17th Japanese bank to partner with BDO. With a network of 134 branches and a stronghold in the Tochigi market, ABL serves over 70,000 corporate clients.

Through this alliance, ABL expects to facilitate new investments and business opportunities for its customers in the Philippines.

The partnership will enhance BDO’s role as a trusted banking partner for Japanese enterprises, BDO said in a statement.

BDO's Japan Desk, established in 2007, has grown significantly, offering Japanese-speaking personnel and relationship managers to support Japanese companies and individuals operating in the Philippines.

This alliance underscores BDO’s commitment to fostering economic growth by facilitating foreign investments, particularly from Japan, and creating a vibrant business environment in the Philippines.

As the largest bank in the Philippines, BDO boasts over 1,700 branches, 5,700 ATMs nationwide, and 16 international offices. Its comprehensive international desks and extensive digital banking solutions provide unparalleled support to clients.--Ed: CSN
