Aboitiz Foods president and CEO Tristan Aboitiz emphasized the company’s mission to foster thriving communities across Southeast Asia.

“In the Philippines and Malaysia, we’ve empowered families to increase their income through Pilmico livelihood kits, designed for farmers, bakers, micro-entrepreneurs, and indigenous communities,” he said

Philippines: Supporting agrarian reform beneficiaries

Since 2017, Aboitiz Foods — through its subsidiary Pilmico and the Aboitiz Foundation Inc. — has collaborated with the Department of Agrarian Reform to assist agrarian reform beneficiaries across the Philippines.

The flagship Pilmico livelihood kits program provides grant-based bakery, poultry, and livestock packages, equipping beneficiaries with essential tools such as flour, baking ovens, animal feeds, and ready-to-lay hens.

The initiative has benefited over 1,093 individuals, offering hands-on training in farm management, business development, and biosecurity. These interventions have helped agrarian reform beneficiaries generate additional income and enhance their resilience amid economic uncertainties.

To further empower micro-entrepreneurs, Aboitiz Foods partnered with Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.–Microfinance to extend livelihood kits and capital support in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

The partnership has so far benefited 28 recipients, providing them with resources such as gilts, egg machines, and bakery packages, helping them scale their small businesses.

Malaysia: Fostering self-sufficiency among indigenous groups

Aboitiz Foods has also expanded its reach beyond the Philippines, collaborating with the Global Peace Foundation Malaysia to support the Orang Asli community in Pahang.

The initiative focuses on building sustainable chicken coops, supplying chicks and feed, and providing technical training in farm management.

The program has helped 40 Orang Asli families achieve food security and develop a stable source of income through chicken farming.

Their products are sold in urban centers such as Kuantan and Kuala Lumpur, creating a sustainable business model that benefits both the community and urban consumers.

Additionally, the program includes educational initiatives for children, ensuring long-term community development and equipping the next generation with essential skills to sustain the local agribusiness sector.

Long-term impact, sustainable growth

Aboitiz Foods said it is committed to expanding its impact by scaling these initiatives across Southeast Asia

“Our vision for these stakeholders is to create programs that have a lasting impact on their lives and those around them,” Aboitiz said. “Our investments in programs designed for farmers, micro-entrepreneurs, and indigenous communities aim to create a more resilient and equitable food system not just for those working today, but for future generations as well.”

By integrating social responsibility into its business strategy, Aboitiz Foods said it aims to nourish the future of Asia, focusing on sustainable growth and inclusive development.

The company’s added that its efforts contribute to building a resilient food and agribusiness ecosystem, ensuring economic stability for marginalized communities while supporting the region’s evolving food security needs.
