‘Sid’ Consunji conferred Honorary Doctorate in Management by AIM

Isidro 'Sid' A. Consunji –chair of DMCI Holdings, Semirara Mining and Power Corp., and Cemex Holdings Philippines –received an Honorary Doctorate in Management from the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) on Dec.  8, 2024.

This prestigious recognition celebrates his exceptional management expertise and transformative leadership, which have established DMCI Holdings as a highly diversified organization, recognized for its sustainable success and significant impact on society.

In his address, Consunji imparted invaluable lessons drawn from his 50 years of what he described as “on-the-job training.” 

He highlighted the significance of cultivating the right attitude, building strong partnerships, taking responsibility for mistakes, and embracing challenges.

He also shared his bold and unconventional approach to business—acquiring distressed companies and transforming them into thriving, profitable enterprises.

This prestigious recognition holds special significance for Consunji, an AIM board trustee, who once revealed to the Philippine Daily Inquirer that he dropped out of AIM decades ago due to a small miscalculation in the number of subjects needed to complete his MBA. Reflecting on the experience, he emphasized the importance of always leaving room for contingency.

“Business, at its core, is a tool—a powerful one. It can solve problems, create opportunities, and leave the world better than we found it,” Consunji told the AIM Class of 2024.
