Security Bank turns anniversary fair into scholarship boost

Security Bank marked its 75th anniversary by turning an employee marketplace into a fundraising platform for students, directing participation fees from its annual People’s Fair Marketplace to a scholarship program for financially challenged families.

Held at the SMX Convention Center Manila, the event gathered employee-run businesses from across the bank, with exhibitor fees donated to Security Bank Foundation’s Regalo Mo, Kinabukasan Ko Scholarship Program.

Why it matters

The initiative linked employee entrepreneurship with education support, giving staff a way to showcase small businesses while contributing to scholarships for agency-hired workers and their children.

Security Bank corporate banking group relationship manager Kimberly Malka Soner said, “When we learned that the booth fees would go directly to the Security Bank Foundation's programs, we felt even more encouraged to participate. It's a great opportunity to sell while giving back,”

Now in its 16th year, the RMKK program provides educational assistance to Security Bank’s agency-hired personnel, including janitors, security guards, messengers and drivers, as well as their children.

The company release said the program is supporting 87 scholars for Academic Year 2026-2027, extending educational assistance to families with limited financial means.

Beyond the booths

Security Bank corporate banking group relationship manager Jan Jethro Puzon said, “I have always believed in giving back—whether through my personal life, our church, or simply helping others when I can,”

Puzon said, “Joining the People's Fair was a chance to support a cause I care about while also cheering on my wife's baking business.”

The marketplace complements the foundation’s Adopt a Scholar campaign, which also raises funds to help scholars complete their education.

Security Bank information technology group officer Jose Gil Puey IV said, “The People's Fair gave us the chance to showcase our products, connect with the Security Bank community, and at the same time support initiatives that help students achieve their educational goals,”

Security Bank business banking segment officer Tristan Joseph Legaspi shared this message for scholars: “Keep your persistence and drive for continuous education, and remain hopeful that your determination to finish your studies will eventually be rewarded.”
