As of noon on Oct. 25, 2024, the number of customers experiencing power interruptions has been reduced to 360,000, down from a peak of 566,000 the previous night, the Philippines’ largest electricity distributor and retailer said.
Major outages remain concentrated in Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas, with additional interruptions reported in parts of Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, and Quezon.
Meralco assured customers that restoration efforts are ongoing, with teams working around the clock to bring power back to most affected areas by the end of the day.
“Following last night’s strong winds and torrential rains, we would like to ask for our customers’ patience and understanding as we have to follow protocols and prioritize their safety, especially in flooded areas,” Meralco vice president and communications head Joe Zaldarriaga said.
“Our crews are tirelessly working to restore services to most of the affected customers by the end of the day,” he added.
In parallel with restoration efforts, One Meralco Foundation is preparing relief packs and solar lamps for distribution to families severely impacted by the storm.
Customers can report outages and concerns through Meralco’s social media platforms or contact the hotline at 16211 and 8631-1111.
Meralco said its swift response underscores its commitment to restoring power promptly and providing assistance to storm-affected communities.
