Insider Spotlight

  • PAL has launched the first-ever nonstop Cebu-Guam route, expanding international links out of Mactan-Cebu
  • The service runs three times weekly and complements PAL’s daily Manila-Guam flights
  • Stakeholders from aviation and tourism joined the send-off as Cebu strengthens its gateway role

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has started the first nonstop flights between Cebu and Guam, opening a direct air bridge between Central Visayas and the western Pacific island of Guam.

The inaugural service took off Dec. 16 from Mactan-Cebu International Airport, with officials from PAL, Aboitiz InfraCapital GMCAC, the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority, the Department of Tourism, and travel industry groups on hand to mark the launch.

Why it matters

A nonstop link trims friction for leisure and visiting-friends-and-relatives travel, and it broadens Cebu’s international connectivity beyond traditional hubs.

For the tourism sector, the route provides another option to pull demand into Central Visayas while also giving outbound travelers a more convenient gateway to Guam.

By the numbers

The Cebu-Guam flights operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, departing Mactan-Cebu at 9:40 p.m. and arriving in Guam at 3:25 a.m. local time.

The return legs fly every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, departing Guam at 5:15 a.m and arriving in Cebu at 6:50 a.m.

What they’re flying

PAL will operate the route using Airbus A321ceo aircraft. The airline said the new Cebu-Guam service complements its daily flights between Manila and Guam, giving travelers an additional origin point in the Visayas while keeping Manila as a key connection hub.

What’s next for travelers

PAL is directing passengers to book via its website, hotline, mobile app, or accredited ticketing offices and travel agents as it ramps awareness for the new international option out of Cebu. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
