Held at the DTI offices, the high-level meeting brought together key representatives from both countries to discuss ways to unlock the potential of the Philippine creative industries through cultural exchange, capacity-building, and global exposure.
Spearheaded by DTI’s Creative Industries Development Office (CIDO), the initiative aligns with the department’s broader goal of nurturing cultural dialogue and supporting creatives through policy, protection, and promotion.
Roadmap for performing arts sector
A major focus of the discussion was the Philippine Creative Industries Development Plan, which provides a structured roadmap for growing the country’s performing arts sector—including music, theater, and dance. The plan aims to ensure the sustainability and global competitiveness of Filipino creatives.
French cultural leaders expressed strong interest in supporting the Malikhaing Pinoy Program Para sa Bagong Pilipinas, which is set for relaunch this September during Philippine Creative Industries Month. The program will feature flagship events at the National Museum and Bonifacio Global City (BGC), showcasing Filipino creativity to a wider audience.
The meeting also highlighted the Malikhaing Pinoy Music Masterclass, a free educational initiative for artists, managers, and indie labels. Discussions included the potential involvement of French experts in future masterclasses and training programs to strengthen local talent and support international collaboration.
Unlocking growth opportunities
Beyond music, the DTI and French Embassy explored joint efforts in cinema, animation, fashion, and integrating traditional Filipino weaves into the global fashion scene. They also discussed the role of the French Institute in supporting digital distribution and training programs for Filipino creatives.
The meeting was attended by prominent French officials, including Mathilde Séjourné, Martin Macalintal, and Sabrina Durand. On the Philippine side, the delegation was led by DTI Assistant Secretary Nylah Rizza Bautista and included officials from the Bureau of Competitive Development and the Foreign Trade Service Corps.
