Lalamove Philippines is launching “Flores de LALA,” an initiative aimed at supporting barangays in Luzon by recognizing the work behind the annual tradition while providing financial assistance for community-led festivities.
Driving the news
Under the program, five winning barangays will each receive P50,000 in cash to support their Flores de Mayo activities. Applications are open until April 15, 2026, with winners to be announced on April 17.
What they’re saying
“Flores de Mayo is a tradition that brings communities together, but behind every celebration is a great deal of preparation and coordination,” said Djon Nacario, managing director of Lalamove Philippines.
“Through Flores de LALA, we want to recognize that effort and give barangays practical support as they work to keep this tradition alive.”
Zoom in
The campaign invites barangays to share the story behind their preparations—from decorating streets and creating costumes to organizing processions and mobilizing materials.
Entries will be judged based on storytelling, community participation, cultural value, and readiness to mount the celebration.
How it works
Applicants must be Lalamove users representing barangays in Luzon and must have completed at least one booking within the past six months.
They are also required to submit a registration form, provide their Lalamove account details, and secure a signed endorsement from either their parish priest or barangay captain.
As part of the application, participants must write a short entry explaining what makes their local Flores de Mayo celebration unique.
Between the lines
The initiative highlights a broader reality: cultural traditions endure not just through celebration, but through the collective effort of communities working behind the scenes.
The bottom line
By pairing storytelling with financial support, Lalamove aims to help sustain Flores de Mayo traditions—ensuring they continue to thrive across communities for generations to come. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
