Insider Spotlight
The digital bank has emerged as the most used Visa debit card issuer in the Philippines, earning recognition from Visa as the country’s top bank by active Visa debit cards, according to a joint announcement Wednesday.
Why it matters
The milestone underscores how debit cards—not just credit—are driving financial inclusion and cash-lite behavior in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing consumer markets.
For GoTyme, the surge signals deepening customer engagement beyond account sign-ups toward habitual daily use.
By the numbers
The bank was also among the first issuers in the Philippines to enable Google Wallet and Google Pay, accelerating tap-to-pay adoption across physical and online merchants.
What they’re saying
“When banking is made simple and beautiful, customers deepen their trust and adoption with the brand. This milestone reflects the confidence Filipinos place in GoTyme Bank,” Nate Clarke, GoTyme Bank president and CEO, said in a press statement on Feb. 19, 2026.
“Together with Visa, we will continue delivering secure, seamless everyday experiences as we push toward our goal of becoming the largest and most loved retail bank in the Philippines.”
“Our partnership with GoTyme is leveling up the payments experience for Filipinos, enabling innovative, safe and seamless payment experiences,” added Jeffrey Navarro, Visa Philippines country manager.
“This partnership also aligns with the government’s vision to build a digital-first, cash-lite society,” he added.
The big picture
The momentum builds on a multi-year, multi-market collaboration signed in November 2025 at the Singapore FinTech Festival, aimed at expanding digital payments innovation across emerging markets in Asia and Africa.
Under the agreement, Visa is supporting GoTyme’s expansion through enhanced card issuance programs, marketing support and data-driven services.
From on-the-spot debit card issuance at kiosks nationwide to global wallet integrations, GoTyme’s strategy blends physical accessibility with digital convenience—turning everyday spending into a powerful growth engine. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
