Insider Spotlight
Ler now oversees Fastly’s business across Asean, Greater China, and South Korea, regions marked by fast-growing digital economies and rising expectations for secure, high-performance online experiences.
Her mandate reflects Fastly’s broader strategy to move closer to customers through localized leadership, regional proximity, and deeper ecosystem engagement.
Why it matters
Asia remains one of the most competitive battlegrounds for cloud and edge services, with enterprises demanding low-latency performance, robust security, and solutions tailored to local market realities.
Fastly’s leadership move signals a shift toward more hands-on regional execution, designed to help customers modernize platforms while navigating complex regulatory and operational environments.
Driving growth through customers and partners
Ler brings more than two decades of enterprise technology experience across Asia-Pacific, with a track record of scaling businesses by aligning customer needs with innovative solutions and strong partner networks.
In previous roles, she focused on building go-to-market engines that balanced direct customer engagement with channel-driven scale, an approach Fastly is now prioritizing across Asia.
“The Asia region is one of the most diverse and dynamic markets in the world, spanning Asean countries, South Korea, and the Greater China region,” Nicola Gerber, vice president for Asia Pacific and Japan at Fastly, said in a press release on Jan. 13, 2026.
“Having Rachel onboard —with her expansive experience and deep understanding of customers across these markets—reinforces Fastly’s commitment to deliver the Fastly experience even closer to our customers.”
Zooming in on solution innovation
Fastly’s Asia strategy also hinges on helping organizations deploy edge cloud and AI-ready infrastructure that supports faster content delivery and stronger application security.
By pairing its programmable edge platform with localized expertise, the company aims to help customers roll out digital services with greater agility and reliability, particularly in markets where user experience can directly influence brand loyalty and revenue growth.
What Ler says
“What excites me most about joining Fastly is its authenticity and its passion for building a faster, safer and more engaging internet,” Ler said. “Across Asean, Greater China, and South Korea, digital expectations are rising fast, and customers need a partner who cares as much as they do about delivering meaningful, secure and high-performance online experiences.”
The bottom line
By doubling down on customer-focused strategies, solution innovation, and partner ecosystems, Fastly is positioning its Asia leadership as a growth engine, not just a regional outpost, as digital transformation accelerates across the region. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
