Speaking at a recent event, Roque underscored the role of SheTradesPH, a mentorship and market-access platform designed to help women-led businesses scale and compete in global markets.
“Women entrepreneurs play a vital role in our economy. Through SheTradesPH, we provide them with the resources and networks they need to grow their businesses internationally,” Roque said.
Negosyo Centers: Driving women’s economic participation
The DTI’s Negosyo Centers have also played a significant role in fostering entrepreneurship in the country. According to Roque, these centers have assisted 1.5 million entrepreneurs nationwide, with women comprising 62 percent of beneficiaries.
She cited the inspiring success of Gweneline Larua, a mother from MIMAROPA, who turned her peanut butter and turmeric drink business into a thriving wellness brand, showcasing the transformative impact of DTI-backed initiatives.
Strengthening public-private collaboration
Roque concluded by calling for sustained collaboration among stakeholders to create a more inclusive business environment for women. She reaffirmed DTI’s partnership with Go Negosyo, led by Joey Concepcion, in promoting women entrepreneurship through strategic programs and events that cater to their unique business needs.
“We remain committed to empowering Filipina entrepreneurs and ensuring they have equal opportunities to succeed in business,” Roque emphasized.
