Insider Spotlight
The listed fiber broadband provider said its Converge Global Business Group recently gathered Iloilo City's public sector leaders during its "Elevating Connections" executive forum to discuss strategies for building resilient, data-driven smart communities that can deliver more efficient and citizen-centric government services.
Why it matters
As more LGUs modernize public services, demand is increasing for reliable connectivity, cloud infrastructure, and digital platforms that support everything from business permitting to disaster recovery. Telecommunications firms are positioning themselves as technology partners beyond broadband connectivity.
Iloilo City Department Head for the Data Assessment and Systems Management Office department head Atty. Fydah Marie Sabando-Del Rosario underscored the importance of digitalization in local governance.
"Embracing digital transformation is a foundational requirement for transparent, efficient, and responsive local governance," Sabando-Del Rosario said in a press statement.
"By modernizing our data infrastructure, we directly accelerate service delivery and increase accessibility for every citizen," she added.
The big picture
Converge said it is offering ICT ecosystems tailored to an LGU's level of digital maturity, ranging from basic connectivity to advanced automation and smart city deployments.
The company highlighted solutions that include Internet of Things-enabled smart city platforms, intelligent traffic management systems, public safety monitoring, community Wi-Fi hubs, secure cloud hosting for citizen-facing applications, electronic business permits and licensing systems, real property tax platforms, and enterprise-grade data resiliency solutions designed for continuous availability and disaster recovery.
Converge global business AVP and head of enterprise sales for Visayas and Mindanao Shion Canen said, "Our objective is to empower LGUs and public sector entities at every stage of their digital evolution. Whether a municipality is laying its first digital foundation or scaling an advanced smart ecosystem, Converge provides the enterprise-grade infrastructure to maximize their operational potential.”
“Through a robust portfolio of Smart City solutions and secure cloud hosting, we enable LGUs and government agencies to seamlessly host critical citizen applications and secure vital public records," Canen added.
