INSIDER SPOTLIGHT
Timezone is leaning into this shift with the relaunch of its expanded Glorietta 4 flagship, adding more games, attractions, and new social play experiences designed for value-conscious guests.
Why it matters
Consumer spending remains cautious, but Filipinos continue to seek affordable ways to bond, especially in groups. One standout trend, Timezone said in a press release, is the growing preference for low-cost shared activities.
Raffy Prats Jr., president and general manager of Timezone Philippines, said: “So what we see now is that whenever we have a buy one, get one offer, they love that. They go for that. And we're seeing more of them playing socially together.”
“When you go to the karaoke booth [for example], all of you can go in there, and sing a song for P40,” Prats Jr. further said. “So again, when times are a bit hard, people are looking for ways to entertain themselves and not really spend too much. That's worked well for us as well.”
The new attractions
Timezone Glorietta 4 now spans just under 1,400 square meters, up from 900, with more than 120 machines and attractions.
Prats noted: “You have a space that has grown from 900 square meters to 1,360, or close to 1,400 square meters. And we have 100 amusement machines here, of which about 80 percent are brand new. So again, it's very special to open with 80 percent brand new games. Of course, the 20 percent are the love favorites, like Maximum Toon, Jurassic Park.”
The flagship now includes social bowling, which Prats says is designed so “the whole family, even the grandparents can play.”
“That's why it's now called a multi-attraction,” Prats Jr. continues. “We brought in social bowling, which is special bowling because it is actually family-friendly — you get more spares, you get more strikes, people are having more fun. It encourages social playing with your family, friends, colleagues at work.”
Along with karaoke and social bowling, family and friends can now also enjoy a game of billiards.
Beyond the venue
Timezone is extending the experience into the digital space through the Timezone Fun App, which allows guests to reload Powercards, access exclusive promotions, and redeem reward vouchers — a driver of loyalty among value-focused families.
The bigger picture
Timezone operates 51 full-size venues and over 50 smaller locations nationwide, generating about 2.5 million visits monthly. Its party business is also scaling, with nearly 3,800 events held since 2023.
Timezone Group CEO Sonaal Chopra said: “Our global expertise and dedication to the guest experience drive continuous innovation and operational excellence. The outcome is where Timezone guests get to enjoy best-in-class social entertainment.”
