Insider Spotlight
The estate developer has formalized a strengthened partnership with Batangas State University and the Aboitiz Foundation to roll out industry microcredential programmes tailored to the needs of companies operating the estate.
The initiative builds on the recent opening of the Batangas State University, The National Engineering University–LIMA Campus, located within the 1,100-hectare industrial-anchored estate in Lipa-Malvar, Batangas.
Why it matters
The program directly responds to demand signals from nearly 200 global and local locators inside LIMA Estate, which collectively employ more than 75,000 workers.
By situating training within the estate, Aboitiz Economic Estates aims to help companies address evolving skills gaps without disrupting operations, while strengthening the long-term competitiveness of both talent and industry.
How it works
Hosted at the estate’s Talent Edge Hub, the microcredential courses are designed alongside technology and industry partners including Microsoft, Cisco Networking Academy, CIM Technologies, Geodata Systems Technologies, and Huawei.
Tuition and training fees are supported by the Aboitiz Foundation, with sessions delivered in-person and through hybrid formats to enable applied, practice-oriented learning.
“Today, we come together in partnership to help prepare the next generation of Filipino engineers, technologists, and innovators who will power Batangas and the country’s continued progress,” Clifford M. Academia, vice president and head of the Industrial Commercial Business Unit at Aboitiz Economic Estates & Aboitiz Land, said in a press statement on Feb. 24, 2026.

As the country’s National Engineering University, Batangas State University will anchor specialized training in data management, networking, project planning and control, geographic information systems, and the Internet of Things.
The university is also expanding lifelong learning pathways for working professionals through microcredentials and the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program, recognizing prior industry experience while opening pathways to emerging disciplines.
“We remain committed to supporting the development of a more talented workforce within Aboitiz Economic Estates,” shared Batangas State University president Dr. Tirso Ronquillo.
“We believe that by strengthening our capabilities, we can help foster more dynamic and advanced economic activity within the estate. Together, we are learning how to best complement the already capable Philippine workforce, reflecting one of the core tenets of outcomes-based education: continuous learning.”
The bottom line
By embedding education into its industrial ecosystem, Aboitiz Economic Estates is positioning LIMA Estate not just as a manufacturing hub but as a fully integrated, industry-anchored township where talent development, business growth, and community building converge. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S.
