Australian universities are stepping up efforts to attract Filipino students, with leading institutions set to participate in the AECC Global Education Fair 2026 across four major Philippine cities this February and March.

The event underscores Australia’s continued positioning as a top study destination for Filipinos seeking globally recognized degrees, post-study work pathways, and long-term migration prospects.

The big picture

Australia has long drawn strong interest from Filipino students due to its internationally recognized education system, multicultural environment, and clear post-study career pathways. Work-while-studying options and internship opportunities further strengthen its appeal.

This year’s AECC Global Education Fair will bring together institutions from Australia alongside universities from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Japan, and New Zealand, offering students direct access to admissions representatives and guidance counselors.

"Australia offers Filipino students unique opportunities that go beyond academics. From allowing them to work and earn while studying and offering internships for gaining industry experience to providing flexible programs and clear post-study career pathways, students feel fully supported in a safe, English-speaking, and diverse environment,” Jun Mojica, marketing manager of AECC Study Abroad Consultants, said in a press statement.

“These distinctive features make Australia an ideal destination for global learning and future career success," Mojica said.

Why it matters

Outbound student mobility remains a significant investment decision for Filipino families. Education fairs like AECC’s serve as a critical marketplace, connecting prospective students directly with institutions while reducing information gaps around visas, costs, and career outcomes.

At the fair, attendees can meet college and university representatives, attend expert-led seminars, receive student visa guidance, and submit school applications on the spot. Personalized counseling sessions aim to streamline what is often a complex and costly process.

Students can also explore merit-based and excellence scholarships offered by partner institutions. These may partially cover tuition and, in some cases, provide additional financial support.

What’s happening

"The AECC Global Education Fair is our way of guiding Filipino students toward global opportunities. We bring our institution partners, course and scholarship information, and expert advice under one roof, helping them navigate every step of studying abroad so they can confidently pursue an international future," adds Mojica.

The fair will be held on Feb. 28 at Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu, and March 1 at Acacia Hotel in Davao. Exclusive giveaways will be offered during each event day. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
