Key highlights of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) estimates
Palay:
Q2 2025 production is projected to reach 4.36 million metric tons, up 13.4 percent from 3.85 million metric tons in Q2 2024 and 0.6 percent higher than the April 1 projection of 4.34 million metric tons.
Harvest area is expected to expand by 9.2 percent to 972.73 thousand hectares (vs. 890.60 thousand hectares in 2024).
Yield per hectare estimated at 4.48 metric tons, improving 3.7 percent from 4.32 metric tons in the same period last year.
As of May 1, 63 percent (612.65 thousand hectares) of the expected harvest area has already been reaped, producing 2.82 million metric tons of palay.
Crop stages: 34.5 percent vegetative, 19.6 percent reproductive, 45.9 percent maturing.
Corn:
Projected Q2 2025 corn output stands at 1.487 million metric tons, a 26.7- percent increase from 1.17 million metric tons in Q2 2024 but 0.1 percent lower from the April 1 estimate of 1.489 million metric tons.
Harvest area seen rising by 16.1 percent to 402.69 thousand hectares.
Yield per hectare is expected to grow by 9.2 percent to 3.69 metric tons (from 3.38 in 2024).
55.1 percent of the total planted area (221.69 thousand hectares) harvested as of May 1, producing 915.86 thousand metric tons.
Crop stages: 39.4 percent vegetative, 23.9 percent reproductive, 36.7 percent maturing.
