Adjusted meeting frequency: The Monetary Board of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has announced will reduce monetary policy meetings — during which the group decides on the direction of interest rates in the country — to six per year (from seven previously), starting in 2025.
Objective: The rationale is to allow policy makers to conduct enhanced data analysis and expert consultations. The change will allow more robust forecasting and sector engagement to refine policy decisions, the central bank said.
Published schedule: The 2025 schedule of Monetary Board meetings, along with publication dates for Monetary Policy Reports (MPR) and meeting highlights, has been released. — Ed: DLL
