President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed top banker Walter Wassmer to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Monetary Board, a statement from the Presidential Communications Office showed on Thursday.
Wassmer steps into the role following the abrupt resignations of V. Bruce Tolentino and Anita Linda Aquino on June 30. The President has yet to announce the appointment for the remaining vacant seat on the Monetary Board.
The Manila Bulletin had previously reported Wassmer's likely appointment to the top policy-making body of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

Prior to that, he was the senior executive vice president and institutional banking group head at BDO Unibank from 1997 to 2022.
His extensive career also includes being senior vice president at Far East Bank and Trust Co. (1986-1997), assistant vice president at Union Bank of the Philippines (1983-1986), and corporate account officer at Bancom Finance Corp.(1980-1982).
