Empowering business through aggregation
Under the expanded collaboration, Mr. Freeze aggregated several of its ice plants across Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Bulacan to participate in the contestable market and benefit from bulk power purchasing through MPower.
The Retail Aggregation Program (RAP) allows smaller electricity end-users to combine multiple accounts within the same franchise area and purchase power in bulk from retail electricity suppliers. This setup enables businesses to optimize power consumption and lower electricity costs.
A partnership built on growth
Mr. Freeze, a wholesale ice manufacturing company, has been a long-standing partner of Meralco, dating back to the energization of its first ice plant in 2005.
“Our business has always been built on strong relationships, and we’re happy to continue growing with Meralco and MPower,” said Philip Gerald Santos, president and chief operating officer of Mr. Freeze.
“We look forward to sustainable growth and continued success as we power our Mr. Freeze ice plants, and we’re excited for this new journey with MPower by our side.”
Shared commitment to sustainability
This strategic move underscores Mr. Freeze’s commitment to operational efficiency and energy cost management. For Meralco and MPower, it reinforces their shared goal of empowering businesses through innovative energy solutions.
“This partnership is not just about business—it’s about the shared goals we believe in: sustainability, responsible energy use, and putting the customer first,” said Redel M. Domingo, Meralco first vice president and head of MPower.
“MPower is more than just a supplier—we’re a partner committed to growing with you and supporting what matters most.”
Driving the future of energy solutions
Through RAP and other innovative initiatives, MPower continues to deliver competitive energy solutions and high-quality service to support customers in managing costs, improving efficiency, and contributing to a more sustainable energy ecosystem. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
