The deal marks MPH's 19th and 20th provincial hospital partnerships and its first investment in Batangas, completing the healthcare group's presence across the CALABARZON region nearly two decades after its first hospital investment in Makati Medical Center.
Why it matters
The expansion strengthens Metro Pacific Health's presence in one of the country's fastest-growing regions while broadening access to private healthcare in Batangas.
The partnership will enable the two hospitals to tap the group's nationwide network of hospitals, outpatient centers, and healthcare colleges to improve operational efficiency, elevate clinical standards, and enhance patient experience, according to the company's release.
"We are deeply grateful for the continuing trust of hospital owners and doctors nationwide who have chosen to partner with Metro Pacific Health," Metro Pacific Health president Augie Palisoc Jr. said.
"Their confidence enables us to further develop and expand healthcare services in their respective communities. This investment in St. Camillus marks our 19th and 20th provincial hospital partnership - and our first in the progressive province of Batangas, thereby completing our presence in the CALABARZON region."
Strategically located along Diversion Road in Bolbok, Batangas City, UDCMC serves communities connected by the STAR Tollway and Batangas International Port.
UDCMGH, meanwhile, is the only private hospital in Mabini, providing healthcare services to local residents and the thousands of tourists visiting Anilao's diving destinations.
The big picture
The latest acquisition expands Metro Pacific Health's portfolio to 11 hospitals in the National Capital Region, 12 in Luzon, two in the Visayas, and six in Mindanao, reinforcing its strategy of growing through partnerships with established regional healthcare providers.
"From the beginning, our vision as founders was to build a hospital that would challenge the status quo and provide quality, advanced, and compassionate healthcare to the Batangas community," former UDCMC president and founding member Dr. Ferdinand Moraleja said.
"We are proud of what our hospitals have achieved and the strong foundation built by our Founders, doctors, employees, and shareholders. This partnership with Metro Pacific Health allows us to build on that foundation and bring our hospitals to even greater heights."
Across its 31 hospitals, Metro Pacific Health now has a combined capacity of approximately 4,800 beds, supported by 12,500 doctors and 24,000 healthcare staff serving around 5.2 million patients annually. —Princess Daisy C. Ominga | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
