Led by tycoon Edgar Saavedra, the listed builder is a pioneer in modern precast construction, where components are factory-made then assembled on site, a process that’s faster and also more cost-effective.
Megawide, which owns real estate firm PH1 World Developers, operates precast factories in Taytay, Rizal. It played a key role in the rapid growth of builders such as SM Development, owned by the Sy family-backed SM Prime Holdings.
Its first 4PH rollout covers more than 7,000 units in Dasmariñas, Cavite with Pag-IBIG financing, a test case for whether prefab can scale nationwide.
These units will cost around P12.6 billion or P1.8 million each—attainable for a broader portion of the population.
“This will give chance for our common Filipino homebuyers to own decent houses that are comparable or even better than any of the top development in the country at an affordable price,” said Saavedra, the chair and CEO of Megawide.
“Of course, this is coupled with affordable home loans under the 4PH program being offered by Pag-IBIG,” he added.
Megawide said about half of the 100,000 homes will be launched within three years, backed by a larger and more automated precast facility now in the pipeline.
This will also require expansion of its precast factories to produce housing units at scale, aiming to cut build time and costs.
President Marcos toured Megawide’s precast factory in Taytay, Rizal on Feb. 16 to view the company’s prefab housing technology for the 4PH program.
“Because of this, our company will be expanding another facility bigger and more sophisticated to support our commitment in delivering the 100,000 houses within five years, about half of them will be (launched) in the next three years,” Saavedra said.
