The cleanup mobilized 67 Maynilad employee-volunteers, who removed litter and debris from the shoreline to help prevent waste from flowing into Manila Bay and nearby waterways.
Employee action
The activity forms part of Maynilad's broader environmental sustainability initiatives, which promote water resource protection, responsible waste management, and employee volunteerism.
"As a water and wastewater services provider, Maynilad recognizes that the protection of waterways requires collective action. Through activities like this, we are able to engage our employees in environmental stewardship while helping protect coastal and marine environments," said Maynilad chief sustainability officer Atty. Roel S. Espiritu.
Environmental focus
World Ocean Day is observed annually to raise awareness about the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources while encouraging action against pollution and other threats to ocean health.
Maynilad said it continues to invest in wastewater treatment facilities, water infrastructure, and water resource management programs aimed at protecting waterways across its service area.
