The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) kicked off Phases 4 and 5 of the National Fiber Backbone (NFB) in Butuan City on Aug. 11, 2025, under the ₱16.1-billion Philippine Digital Infrastructure Project (PDIP) — a World Bank-backed initiative aimed at boosting nationwide internet access.
