Stakeholders from the government, industry, and development sectors are optimistic about the swift rollout of the Konektadong Pinoy Act (Republic Act No. 12234), following the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s (DICT) early issuance of the law’s Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR).
With competition expected to intensify following the passage of the Konektadong Pinoy Act, Globe Telecom is banking on better services and innovation to defend its status as the country’s biggest mobile player.
The law lapsed into effect on Aug. 24, setting the stage for a major shake-up in the Philippine telecom sector since it introduces reforms that will lower entry barriers and overhaul decades-old rules.
