“I think the DNA of Globe is about innovation that actually addresses the pain points of customers,” Darius Jose R. Delgado, Globe’s chief commercial officer, told reporters in an interview on the sidelines of a media event on Wednesday.
Globe confident in keeping its edge
“Thats the formula that’s most appreciated by customers: we develop things for them and then then demand [will follow],” he added.
Analysts at First Metro Securities and AP Securities warned the law’s removal of entry barriers and easier infrastructure sharing will put heavy pressure on mobile giants such as Globe and PLDT’s Smart, intensifying price competition in an already saturated market.
Delgado stressed that Globe’s strategy remains driven by user needs rather than competition.
“So whether or not [new players come in] the competitors don’t define the way we do this. It’s the customers,” he said.
Big picture
Globe, along with other industry players, raised the alarm over the current version of the Konektadong Pinoy Act, warning of serious cybersecurity and national security risks if it remains unchanged.
The telco giant is also keen on working with the government in crafting the implementing rules to ensure the law’s goal of expanding connectivity does not come at the expense of security or consumer protection.
