Globe Telecom's network and core services remained largely operational amid the heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm Enteng (international name: Yagi), the company said on Monday.

However, some sites were impacted due to commercial power outages in parts of Bicol and Southern Luzon, the Ayala-controlled telecommunications firm said in a statement.

As of Monday morning, Globe's call, text, and data services were functioning in most areas nationwide.

Network disruptions were reported in about 3 percent of total sites across provinces like Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Marinduque, Cavite, Laguna, and Quezon due to storm-related power failures.

Globe said its field operations teams are on standby, prepared to initiate restoration work as soon as weather conditions improve.

The company also plans to deploy its free call and free charging stations in affected areas once it is safe to do so.

“Our network continues to operate in areas hit by the typhoon. Only a few sites were affected by outages due to loss of commercial power. Our network teams have been prepositioned and ready for restoration work once the situation on the ground improves,” Globe chief sustainability and corporate communications officer Yoly Crisanto said.

Tropical Storm Enteng, spotted east of Polillo Island, continues to intensify, prompting Globe to advise the public to monitor official weather updates.
