Globe ramps up renewable energy push with ACEN

Globe Telecom accelerates its sustainability strategy with Ayala's ACEN, having transitioned 20 of its major facilities to 100 percent  renewable energy (RE), with three more slated to follow by the end of the year.

These facilities, which consumed about 65 million kilowatt-hours in 2023, include The Globe Tower (TGT), which accounted for 7.9 million kWh.

This shift has helped Globe avoid 42,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, aligning with its commitment to environmental responsibility.

The company’s successful transition is the result of a strategic partnership with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), the retail energy supply arm of Ayala’s ACEN.

Globe now operates 29 RE-powered sites, with plans to nearly double that number over the next two years. Of the total, 20 are energized by ACEN RES.

“At Globe, sustainability along with risk management, is a core strategy to building business resilience,” said Globe president and CEO Ernest Cu

He emphasized the importance of reducing the company's carbon footprint, particularly in the face of climate change.

“Digitalization and sustainability are at the very core of the Ayala group. We are excited to harness these synergies with Globe and help empower the Filipino people in a sustainable manner,” said ACEN RES president and CEO Eric Francia.

The partnership, which began in 2019, earned Globe the "Powered by Renewable Energy" badge, solidifying its leadership in sustainable energy adoption.
