De Zuñiga brings with him more than 40 years of legal and regulatory experience in Philippine banking. He served as deputy governor and general counsel of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and was a Monetary Board Member.
Known for championing regulatory integrity and sound governance, he also represented the private sector at Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. (PDIC). His appointment is currently undergoing standard confirmation by the BSP.
This move demonstrates Salmon’s dedication to world-class governance as it builds a next-generation finance platform for underserved markets in the Philippines and beyond.
Backed by global investors such as the International Finance Corp. (IFC) and Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund ADQ/Lunate, Salmon seeks to fuse financial innovation with the highest standards of institutional oversight.
“We are honored to welcome Atty. Juan De Zuñiga to the Board,” said Raffy Montemayor, co-founder of Salmon and chair of the Bank. “His deep knowledge of the Philippine financial system and lifelong dedication to regulatory excellence are crucial as we grow our inclusive, tech-driven bank, offering market-leading products such as our 8.88 percent time deposit.”
De Zuñiga joins a distinguished board that includes Retired Supreme Court Justice Andres B. Reyes Jr., Romulo senior partner Perry L. Pe, and veteran banker Wilfredo Perry B. Morales. Together, they provide legal and institutional muscle to Salmon’s expansion. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
