Selling door-to-door is no easy task, but for Surf2Sawa agents Robert Borces and Maribel Mancilla, the job has become more rewarding thanks to strong retail support and a product that practically sells itself.

Borces and Mancilla are team leaders under Tita Dais FiberX Enterprise Solutions, a Surf2Sawa distributorship based in Naga.

Both previously worked for a competing telecommunications company before making the switch.

The backdrop

“I was formerly with this telecommunications company, also as a team leader. They changed management and it wasn’t a good change for me so I tried Surf2Sawa with Tita Dais, and I got the job,” Borces said.Tita Dais is Daisy Deviña, owner of distributorship firm Tita Dais FiberX Enterprise Solutions

Mancilla shared a similar journey. She began as a sales agent in her former company. Today, she serves as a team leader for Surf2Sawa, managing sub-agents in Albay and Camarines Sur.

Why it matters

Tita Dais’ hands-on leadership — from installation to after-sales service — helped grow the enterprise into one of the major retailers in its territory. That strong backend support has made selling easier for agents on the ground.

At the same time, Converge’s Surf2Sawa prepaid fiber plan has lowered barriers for Filipinos seeking reliable internet. Priced at P700 per month for unlimited fiber with no contract, the product appeals to students, work-from-home employees, and small online entrepreneurs.

For Borces and Mancilla, affordability is a major selling point.

“Maganda ang bentahan ng Surf2Sawa ngayon. Marami talaga ang nag-aavail kasi mura ito at non-contract ito. Kapag nabenta namin ito sa isang tao ngayon, bukas naman, yung kapitbahay niya,” Mancilla said.(Surf2Sawa is selling very well right now. A lot of people are availing of it because it’s affordable and has no contract. When we sell it to one person today, the next day, their neighbor signs up as well.)

How it works

The two team leaders spend each day mapping out selling areas, coordinating with their sub-agents, and responding to customer inquiries — including load top-ups, which provide additional commission.

“Mag-uusap kami ni Sir Robert kung ano gagawin. May agents siya na hawak online at mga sub-agents ko, pag-uusapan namin, ‘ito ang gagawin natin bukas.’ Sumasabay na din dito ang mga nakapila na pupuntahan na sasabihin ni Ma’am Daisy,” Mancilla explained.

(Sir Robert and I discuss what we’re going to do. He manages agents online and I have my sub-agents, and we talk about what our plan will be for the next day. We also include the queued-up customers we need to visit, as endorsed by Ma’am Daisy.)

There is no secret formula, they said — only persistence.

They earn through commissions on installations and reloads. Consistent sales and attentive customer service directly translate into better income.

The impact

For both agents, the financial gains have improved their families’ lives.

From the load top-ups, Borces said he is able to get the allowance for his children who are in school. “I’ve also been able to have many repairs done on our house, and our appliances are now all new.”

Mancilla said her earnings allowed her to purchase a motorcycle and household essentials.

What’s next

With demand for Surf2Sawa remaining strong in Naga, Borces and Mancilla plan to keep expanding their reach while mentoring more agents.
