The initiative aims to arm microentrepreneurs with practical digital skills to grow their businesses online — a crucial move as consumers increasingly shift to digital channels.
Driving the news:
In a recent Cebu City session, Avon entrepreneurs learned social media content creation, smartphone photography, and basic videography to elevate their marketing efforts. The training also included vital modules on digital safety under PLDT and Smart's #BeCyberSmart campaign.
“Our #eBizNovation program provides microentrepreneurs like Avon resellers with the essential digital skills to thrive in today's economy,” said Stephanie V. Orlino, AVP and head of stakeholder engagement at PLDT and Smart. “When we help them go digital, we contribute to the overall growth and development of our nation.”
Between the lines:
Participants received hands-on training not just in digital marketing but also in online safety — a growing concern for entrepreneurs who may be vulnerable to phishing and cyber scams.
Zoom in:
Risherylyn Ocampo of Avon Philippines expressed her appreciation for the initiative, saying the company’s sales leaders are now better equipped to protect themselves and their customers while selling online.
What they're saying:
“I gained helpful insights from this training as I continue learning how to promote Avon products online,” said Amy Ponce, 57, an Avon representative from Brgy. Sambag 2 with 16 years of experience. “Thanks to PLDT, Smart, and Avon for encouraging us, especially the more senior dealers, to go digital.”
The big picture:
Cebu’s inclusion in #eBizNovation highlights its key role in the Visayas as a hub for small business innovation. The program supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8, focused on decent work and economic growth, by promoting inclusive access to digital tools.
