Security moves into the mainstream
Yale Philippines is responding to that demand by expanding the availability of its latest smart security solutions through Wilcon Depot, one of the country’s largest home improvement retailers. The partnership is making smart locks and connected security systems more accessible to homeowners looking to upgrade their homes amid growing concerns about safety, convenience and property protection.
The latest push was showcased during the second leg of the Smart Yale Home pop-up booth at Wilcon Depot Balintawak, where Yale demonstrated how digital security technologies can be integrated into everyday household routines.
The initiative reflects a broader shift in homeowner priorities. While durability, aesthetics and functionality remain important considerations in home construction and renovation, security and connectivity are increasingly becoming part of the purchasing decision.
Rosemarie Bosch Ong, senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of Wilcon Depot, said consumers are looking for solutions that fit modern lifestyles.
“They are also prioritizing convenience, connectivity and security,” she said, noting that smart home technologies are becoming more relevant as households adopt digital tools in their daily lives.
The collaboration gives Yale access to Wilcon Depot’s network of more than 100 stores nationwide, significantly expanding the reach of its smart security products.
Demand grows for connected homes
According to Yale Philippines, its smart locks are now available across all Wilcon Depot branches, providing homeowners with easier access to connected security solutions.
Jonathan Kwong, director and general manager of ASSA ABLOY Philippines, said interest in smart home security has been growing steadily among Filipino consumers.
“The strong response we received reaffirmed the growing interest in smarter, more connected home security solutions,” he said during the event.
At the center of the showcase was the Yale Luna Elite+, a flagship smart lock designed to replace conventional keys with multiple access options. The lock features facial recognition, PalmScan technology, mobile app integration, PIN access and RFID capabilities.
The product also incorporates smart home features that extend beyond door access. A built-in doorbell, two-way communication system, electronic display and motion-detection camera allow homeowners to monitor and interact with visitors remotely. The lock can also connect to the Yale Home App, enabling users to manage access and receive updates through their smartphones.
New products target household upgrades
The appeal of such products lies in their ability to simplify daily routines. For busy households, keyless access can eliminate common inconveniences such as misplaced keys or the need to manually unlock doors while carrying groceries, bags or other items.
Actress and entrepreneur Iza Calzado, Yale’s brand ambassador, highlighted the practical benefits of touchless access technologies for families balancing work, parenting and household responsibilities.
Beyond flagship products, Yale also introduced a wider range of solutions tailored to different parts of the home. These include the Yale Uno smart lock, which features a thumb-positioned fingerprint scanner for single-motion unlocking, and the Yale YDL325 Series designed for interior doors such as home offices, closets and private rooms.
The event also served as the launch platform for the Yale Zuri, a new smart lock positioned as a premium yet practical security upgrade for households.
Featuring a silver-trimmed finish, the Yale Zuri combines contemporary design with smart functionality. The lock supports fingerprint recognition, PIN access, RFID credentials and Yale Home App integration. It also includes voice-guided setup, anti-peeping fake PIN protection and built-in alarms that activate during attempted tampering or forced entry.
The introduction of Zuri reflects Yale’s effort to bring advanced security technologies to a broader segment of homeowners who may be upgrading from conventional mechanical locks but are not yet ready for more sophisticated systems.
Wider access through retail partnerships
Security upgrades extend beyond entry points. Yale also showcased its Solis Safe Series, a line of motorized safes equipped with fingerprint access and interior lighting. The products are designed to protect valuable documents, passports, jewelry, gadgets and digital storage devices while blending into modern home interiors.
For many families, the ability to secure important belongings has become increasingly important as more assets, records and personal information are stored at home.
The wider availability of these products through Wilcon Depot underscores how smart home technologies are moving from niche offerings to mainstream household upgrades.
Carl Lim, president and chief executive officer of Limson Marketing Inc., said partnerships between global technology providers and local distribution networks are helping accelerate adoption among Filipino consumers.
“Our commitment is to ensure that ASSA ABLOY’s world-class innovations are seamlessly delivered to Wilcon Depot’s massive nationwide network, and ultimately into the hands of Filipino homeowners,” Lim said.
To encourage adoption, Yale and its partners are offering introductory discounts of up to 35 percent on selected products. The promotional campaign includes price reductions on the Luna Elite+, Yale Zuri, Yale Uno, Yale YDL325 Series and Solis Safe products.
As home security increasingly becomes part of the broader smart home ecosystem, the challenge for manufacturers is no longer simply keeping intruders out. The focus is shifting toward creating connected environments that make homes safer, more convenient and easier to manage.
With its expanded presence in Wilcon Depot stores nationwide, Yale is betting that more Filipino households are ready to make that transition.
