Uptrend: EDSA Busway saw 23.3M commuters in first five months of 2024

The EDSA busway ridership program has experienced a significant increase in commuters, serving a total of 23,323,657 passengers from January 1 to May 31, 2024, according to the Department of Transportation.

In a message to the media, DOTr said that, on average, 317 bus units operated daily.

Monthly ridership numbers rose steadily, with January accounting for 3,864,473 passengers, February 3,889,135, March 3,937,042, April 5,578,228, and May peaking at 6,054,779.

This surge reflects the growing reliance on the busway for efficient transportation along EDSA, underscoring its importance in Manila's public transit system.
