St. Luke’s rolls out nationwide cancer aid drive with GCash, Roche

Cancer remains a heavy burden for countless Filipino families, with treatment costs often beyond reach. St. Luke’s Medical Center hopes to ease that weight through a new initiative—showing that even a single peso can spark hope and healing.

St. Luke’s, in partnership with St. Luke’s Foundation, GCash, and healthcare firm Roche, has launched “Piso Para sa Kanser,” a nationwide campaign that lets anyone donate as little as ₱1 through the GCash app. The program underscores the power of collective giving to fuel cancer research and provide financial aid to patients.

The big picture:

The campaign was formally launched at St. Luke’s College of Medicine in Quezon City, marked by a ceremonial signing with executives from all partner organizations. Their shared goal: making cancer care more accessible and inclusive.

How it works:

GCash users can tap into the app and contribute any amount, with no minimum limit beyond ₱1. Donations will support two key areas—cancer patient assistance and ongoing research projects.

What they’re saying:

Organizers hope the campaign will inspire a national movement built on small acts of generosity. “Your peso is more than just a coin. It’s a symbol of hope and healing,” the campaign message reads.

What’s next:

The public is encouraged to spread the word and keep donating through GCash. Piso Para sa Kanser aims to reach as many cancer patients as possible—proving that even the smallest gift can be part of a life-changing effort. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
