Situated on the second floor of the CARNES Building along P. Torres Street, the new extension office aims to enhance business accessibility, regulatory enforcement, and investor protection in the Southern Tagalog region.
“The SEC Lipa Extension Office reaffirms our commitment to providing greater and more effective access to our services and ensuring consistent enforcement of corporate and securities regulations,” SEC Chair Emilio B. Aquino said in a statement.
It will serve the Calabarzon and Mimaropa regions, which contribute significantly to the national economy. Calabarzon alone accounts for 14.7 percent of the Philippines' gross domestic product, driven by its thriving industrial sector.
The SEC Lipa Extension Office will process business registration, monitor compliance, and address fraudulent activities like investment scams and illegal lending. It will also amplify the SEC's advocacy campaigns to safeguard the public from predatory schemes.
Earlier this year, the SEC opened extension offices in Koronadal and Butuan. By expanding its footprint, the SEC aims to create a more transparent and fair corporate environment while encouraging businesses to contribute to regional economic growth.-- Ed: CSN
