SEC halves fees for corporate document requests effective July 1

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is halving fees for corporate document requests starting July 1, 2025—part of its push to make business information more accessible and affordable.

Driving the news:

On June 24, the SEC issued Memorandum Circular No. 6, Series of 2025, effectively revising the fee structure outlined in MC No. 10, Series of 2023. The reduction covers both physical and digital copies of company filings and other documents lodged with the Commission.

“This underscores our commitment to fair, sustainable, and accessible corporate data services,” the SEC said in a statement.

Details:

Here’s what’s changing under the new circular:

  • Physical authenticated copies (e.g., Articles of Incorporation, General Information Sheets) now cost ₱1,000, down from ₱2,000

  • Plain hard copies of the same documents are now ₱750, down from ₱1,500

  • Authenticated per-page charges: ₱50/page (was ₱100)

  • Plain per-page charges: ₱25/page (was ₱50)

Digital access via eSEARCH:

  • Authenticated copies: ₱625 (previously ₱1,250)

  • Plain copies: ₱375 (was ₱750)

The rates for the SEC API Marketplace, which facilitates machine-to-machine access to corporate data, will remain unchanged:

  • ₱10,000 for 100 API calls

  • ₱50,000 for 1,000 API calls

This rate cut aligns with broader government efforts to streamline business processes and enhance ease of access to information. For startups, legal professionals, journalists, and researchers who frequently access SEC filings, the lower costs are a welcome relief.

The new pricing scheme takes effect July 1, 2025, and will apply to all requests processed through SEC’s digital platforms and walk-in services. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
