Insider Spotlight
The DMCI Holdings unit produced 2 million wet metric tons of nickel ore in 2025, up 33 percent from 1.5 million wet metric tons in 2024. Shipments climbed 31 percent year on year to 1.9 million wet metric tons, marking the company’s second-highest shipment level on record.
Driving the news
Higher output from Zambales operations accounted for most of the production growth, supplemented by the initial operations of the Long Point mine. The ramp-up came as nickel market fundamentals showed signs of recovery following a challenging period for the industry.
“We are encouraged by the improving fundamentals of the nickel industry after a challenging period,” Tulsi Das C. Reyes, president of DMCI Mining, said in a press statement on Feb. 9, 2026.
“The combination of our record production, strong prices and the continued progress of our Long Point development gives us solid growth prospects, both for the company and for our host communities,” he added.
Pricing tailwinds
Market conditions also turned favorable during the year. Average benchmark Philippine FOB laterite nickel ore prices for 1.5 percent grade rose 26 percent year on year, increasing from $36.30to $45.70.
The higher price environment supported revenues and underscored the benefits of scaling production as demand stabilized.
Environmental track record
Alongside output growth, DMCI Mining highlighted progress in mine rehabilitation and environmental stewardship.
Subsidiary Berong Nickel Corp., guided by the country’s first approved Final Mine Rehabilitation and Decommissioning Plan for a nickel mine, has rehabilitated more than 174 hectares to date.
This exceeds its year 3 targets, with the program on track for completion in 2027, after which the rehabilitated area will be turned over to the government.
Industry recognition
The group’s environmental and safety efforts also earned external recognition. In November, subsidiary Zambales Diversified Mining Corp. received its second Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award, aligning with the government’s push for responsible and sustainable mining practices.
