PLDT Home Life rolls out Smart Home Starter Kit

As threats become more complex and households grow more digitally connected, smart home technology is no longer a luxury—it’s a practical layer of protection, convenience, and peace of mind for Filipino families.

The start of a new year is often when homeowners reassess their living spaces. With Internet of Things (IoT) solutions now central to modern home safety and automation, upgrading to a smart home setup helps families stay connected, protected, and in control—whether at home or away.

What’s new

PLDT Home Life has introduced the Smart Home Starter Kit, an all-in-one bundle designed to make smart home adoption more accessible, affordable, and easy to use for Filipino households.

The kit combines security, safety, and automation devices in a single package, exclusively available to existing PLDT Home Fiber subscribers.

PLDT said in a statement that the Smart Home Starter Kit is ideal for first-time smart home users, growing families, pet owners, and homeowners looking to enhance safety without investing in multiple standalone devices.

What’s inside the kit

PLDT Home Life has especially partnered with trusted electronics brand TP-Link, whose Tapo line of smart home devices offers the most reliable security and automation options.

Here are the devices in the Smart Home Starter Kit:

  • Tapo H100 Smart Hub
With Chime Serving as the command center, the hub connects all devices into one seamless wireless network. It coordinates alarms, chimes, sensors, and app-based controls for uninterrupted smart home management.

  • Tapo C110 Indoor Camera
Designed for indoor monitoring, this camera delivers 2K video quality and AI-enabled detection for human motion and sound—ideal for families with children or elderly members.

  • Tapo C120 Indoor/Outdoor Camera
Built for both indoor and outdoor use, this camera offers 2K QHD video and two-way audio. It supports AI detection for pets, vehicles, and people, making it suitable for larger homes and perimeter monitoring.

  • Tapo P105 Mini Smart Plug
This Wi-Fi-enabled plug allows users to automate appliances, set schedules, and control devices remotely via their smartphone.

  • Tapo T310 Temperature and Humidity Sensor
Beyond climate monitoring, this sensor helps prevent mold during humid months, improves energy efficiency, and reduces fire risks during hotter seasons.

  • Tapo T110 Smart Contact Sensor
This sensor sends instant alerts when doors or windows are opened or left ajar, giving homeowners real-time awareness of activity inside the home.

How it works

All devices integrate seamlessly to enable customizable automation, monitoring, and security. Key features include real-time notifications, integrated sound and camera alarms with voice alerts, and automated appliance control based on schedules or environmental conditions—even when homeowners are away.

By the numbers

The PLDT Home Life Smart Home Starter Kit is priced at P4,836 and can be purchased as a one-time add-on through an existing PLDT Home Fiber subscription.

What they’re saying

“While data from the Philippine National Police shows a decrease in both property crime and cybercrime last year, it remains crucial to deter future incidents by empowering security in Filipino homes,” said John Y. Palanca, PLDT Home SVP and head for consumer business.

He added that smart home ecosystems offer a more effective, proactive approach to home security, combining automation and connectivity to protect children, pets, and property while improving energy efficiency and overall quality of living. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
