The Department of Energy welcomes the 123 Agreement between the US and the Philippines that promotes safe nuclear energy use, technology exchange, and compliance with international standards.

The Philippines informed the US on June 26, 2024, about completing its domestic requirements for the agreement.

The 123 Agreement will facilitate the transfer of nuclear information, materials, and components, supporting future nuclear power projects, the DOE said in a statement.

Under the Philippine Energy Plan, nuclear power generation targets 1,200 Megawatts (MW) by 2032, with an additional 1,200 MW by 2035 and 2,400 MW by 2050.
