Driving the relief airlift
Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is spearheading logistics support, airlifting relief goods to affected areas in partnership with government agencies, humanitarian groups, and private donors.
Shipments are being carried on available cargo space and handled on a first-come, first-served basis, the company said.
This initiative marks one of the airline’s swiftest post-typhoon mobilizations in recent years, aimed at expediting the transport of urgently needed supplies to hard-hit communities.
Asia Brewery’s on-ground support
Meanwhile, Asia Brewery Inc. (ABI) is focusing on immediate necessities, donating 3,000 six-liter containers of bottled water to families displaced by flooding and storm damage. Distribution is being handled through local government units and partner NGOs, ensuring that clean water reaches evacuees and remote barangays swiftly.
Why it matters
Cebu and neighboring provinces bore the brunt of Typhoon Tino’s torrential rains and strong winds, which disrupted transport routes and water systems.
LTG’s mobilization underscores how corporate networks can accelerate humanitarian logistics, particularly when private sector resources complement government-led relief.
The big picture
Both Philippine Airlines and Asia Brewery are part of LTG’s diversified conglomerate portfolio, which also includes banking, real estate, and education.
The group said it “stands in solidarity with the people of Cebu and nearby provinces” and remains committed to extending continued support in the coming days. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
