New Clark City to stage inaugural football festival May 8–10

Football players, coaches, and fans from across the Philippines are set to converge for the inaugural New Clark City Football Festival from May 8 to 10, 2026, at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac.

Growing game

Presented by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) in partnership with Maxcom Sports Management Services, the three-day event marks the first football festival to be staged in New Clark City.

It aims to promote youth development, teamwork, and community engagement through sport, while strengthening the country’s grassroots football programs.

The festival will feature both 11-a-side and 8-a-side formats. The 11-a-side matches will follow standard full-pitch rules and are intended for older youth aged 13 and above.

Meanwhile, the 8-a-side games are designed for younger players aged 9 to 12, offering a more accessible format suited for early-stage development.

Strong turnout

As of April 29, a total of 31 football clubs have registered, reflecting strong nationwide interest from grassroots teams and youth programs. Organizers said registration remains open until May 5, with limited slots still available for interested teams.

“This Football Festival reflects our continuing commitment to position New Clark City as a premier venue for sports development and tourism, while creating meaningful opportunities for young athletes,” said BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang.

World-class stage

Matches will be held across key facilities within the New Clark City complex, including the Athletics Stadium, warm-up track, and practice areas, providing participants with a world-class sporting environment. The Athletes’ Village will serve as the official accommodation for players, coaches, and officials.

The event is open to the public, with free admission for spectators, inviting families and football enthusiasts to witness emerging talent. Registration fees apply to participating teams.

The festival supports the national agenda to strengthen grassroots sports, expand access to quality facilities, and nurture future Filipino athletes, while boosting tourism and local economic activity in Tarlac. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
