The move signals the company’s view that the office market remains a growth engine, especially in cyberparks anchored by business process outsourcing (BPO) and corporate locators.
“We continue to see strong demand for office spaces in the country, even with the rapid emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and other new technologies,” said Lourdes T. Gutierrez-Alfonso, president and CEO of Megaworld.
She said these technologies are still creating opportunities across industries such as finance, IT, and healthcare.
New leasing group, wider footprint
Megaworld said the new unit, Megaworld Global Offices, will work alongside its existing team, Megaworld Premier Offices, to accelerate leasing growth.
It will focus expansion in growth markets such as the Ilocos Region, Pampanga, Cavite, Bacolod, and Cagayan de Oro.
Biggest office landlord
Megaworld said it already has over 1.6 million square meters of office space across nearly 90 towers nationwide, hosting more than 200,000 employees.
The company said its office portfolio now houses nearly 200 tenant companies, and it is looking to attract more Fortune 500 firms and startup locators.
Megaworld cited its biggest single office lease deal, developing JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s Philippine global service center in Uptown Bonifacio, which now spans 150,000 square meters across two LEED-certified towers.
