  • LG unveils what it calls the world’s first soundbar system powered by Dolby Atmos FlexConnect
  • Modular design allows dozens of wireless configurations without complex setup
  • Audio push reflects renewed demand for cinematic sound as streaming dominates

LG Electronics is taking aim at the living room with LG Sound Suite, a modular home audio system debuting at CES 2026 that emphasizes flexibility, wireless design, and immersive sound.

At the center of the lineup is the H7 soundbar, which LG says is the first in the world powered by Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, a technology designed to adapt audio output to a room’s layout automatically.

The big picture

LG Sound Suite is built to work seamlessly with the company’s premium TVs, letting users mix and match wireless components such as the M7 and M5 surround speakers and the W7 subwoofer. LG says the system supports up to 27 configurations, allowing consumers to start with a minimal setup or expand into a full 13.1.7-channel home theater over time.

How it works

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect enables immersive sound without the traditional complexity of speaker placement.

When the H7 soundbar acts as the lead device, it can work with any TV via HDMI. LG also plans to bring Dolby Atmos FlexConnect to its premium TV lineup through a future software update, broadening compatibility across models.

From the company

According to a company release, LG Sound Suite is positioned as a response to the resurgence of home theater driven by streaming platforms that now widely support Dolby Atmos and other advanced formats. LG argues that as physical media fades, consumers are once again prioritizing high-quality audio to match increasingly sophisticated TV displays.

Why it matters

Audio has reemerged as a differentiator in the home entertainment market. LG is betting that simplicity and flexibility will lower the barrier for consumers who want cinematic sound but are unwilling to deal with traditional wired systems. Features such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity are designed to make setup and daily use frictionless.

What’s new

LG layers its own technologies on top of Dolby’s platform. Sound Follow uses ultra-wideband technology to adjust the listening sweet spot based on where a user is seated, while Room Calibration Pro applies AI processing to tailor sound to the acoustics of a room.

Powering the system is LG’s Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 3, which enables features like AI Sound Pro+ and object-based audio separation.

What they’re saying

“Together with Dolby, we’ve made immersive audio flexible for every home, LG Sound Suite is a testament to our shared focus on audio innovation,” said Lee Jeong-seok, head of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company’s Audio Business Division.

“LG Sound Suite combines Dolby Atmos FlexConnect with its wireless modular design and AI-driven tuning, so consumers can create the system they want and enjoy cinematic sound from any seat.”

“Dolby and LG are unlocking a new level of audio flexibility for anyone who wants to enjoy better sound with Dolby Atmos,” said John Couling, senior vice president of Entertainment at Dolby Laboratories. —Princess Daisy C. Ominga | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
